About mySupermarket

What is mySupermarket?

www.mySupermarket.co.uk is a shopping website which allows you to compare prices of products
at Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's and Ocado, automatically checks what's in your trolley and recommends
swapping items for ones of better value.

Why should I use mySupermarket instead of the supermarkets' own websites?

With mySupermarket you get all the benefits of shopping at your favourite supermarket plus:
  • Compare and save – With mySupermarket you can compare the price of any item or the price of your whole trolley. You can switch between supermarkets and once you've filled your trolley, you can send your order to the supermarket of your choice.
  • Save money within your supermarket – mySupermarket scans your trolley and suggests you swap some of your items for others that are similar, yet better value. That way you never miss a good deal.
  • Healthy Eating – mySupermarket scans your trolley and suggests you swap some of your items for others that are similar, yet healthier. You can compare calorie count, as well as fat, sugar and salt.
  • Top Offers – mySupermarket has done the maths on all the special offers available and recommends those with the biggest savings in a handy Top Offers department.
  • Martin Lewis' Downshift Challenge – Save even more by dropping down a brand level for some of the items on your list.
  • Impartial, free advice – mySupermarket is completely impartial and free to use.
  • Find a convenient delivery slot – With mySupermarket, you can shop through all 4 online supermarkets. If you can't find a convenient slot at your supermarket, one click will show you what the others are offering.

Why don't you include Morrisons and other supermarkets?

We would love to include Morrisons and others in mySupermarket. However, we can only include supermarkets that have all their prices and online, to ensure that we remain fully to date.

Do I have to buy my groceries online?

If you prefer to go shopping in person, you can prepare your shopping list on mySupermarket, take advantage of our saving suggestions, and then print your shopping list. That way, you'll go to the supermarket with the best value list you could possibly have.

Shopping with mySupermarket

How do I shop with mySupermarket?

  1. Shop – Select a supermarket and start filling your trolley. Shop from our recommended Top Offers, your Favourites, browse the shelves, or use the Find to search for a specific item.
  2. Save – You can save money and calories by clicking on the    and    buttons on the header. Switch supermarkets by changing the supermarket tab in the header.
  3. Checkout – Once complete, click on the Checkout button in the top right corner to send your order to the supermarket of your choice for payment. Collect ipoints with each product in addition to your usual loyalty points from your supermarket.

Can I start shopping from my last trolley?

With mySupermarket you can start shopping from your last trolley, rather than filling up your trolley from scratch. Your last trolley is the last trolley you sent to one of the online supermarkets. Click on the "Start from last trolley" link on the homepage, just beneath the Start button. Alternatively, you'll find all your products from your previous orders in your favourites.

What is Quick Shop?

If you would like to find a list of products, Quick Shop is the easiest way to find them all. All you need to do is enter your shopping list and we'll find all the closest matches for the products you want. For each one, we will display your choices for you to select the exact item you want. The more specific you are when entering the list, the fewer options will be suggested. You can change your list at any stage if you forgot an item or wish to edit something you previously entered.

How do I find more information about a product?

Click on the product image and a pop up page will appear containing a larger image of the item and item details. This product details page includes a price comparison chart, ingredients, traffic lights, full nutritional information and allergies info. Where details are missing, we are in the process of adding them.

How do I complete my shopping with mySupermarket?

Once you've finished shopping and saved money and calories, click the 'Checkout' button in the top right of your screen. If you haven't yet registered, now's the time to do so.
Review your trolley summary and click on the green 'Send' button. If you haven't yet entered your Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's or Ocado account login details, you will be required to do so now.

If you've never previously shopped online at your chosen supermarket, you can open a supermarket account by clicking on the link "Don't have an account at ASDA online? Click here to create one" in the login popup (click here to create an account with Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury’s or Ocado). Once your trolley has sent, click on the 'Continue' button to be transferred to the supermarket site.
All you have to do is sign in, review your trolley and enter your payment details. If you haven't booked a delivery slot with mySupermarket you'll need to book your delivery after you send your trolley.

Why do I need to enter my online supermarket login details?

You need to enter your login details so that we can communicate with your supermarket account. You will only be asked once to enter your details and after that we'll remember them. Entering your details enables you to:
  1. Book a delivery slot
  2. Import your favourites from any of the online supermarkets
  3. Checkout from mySupermarket
For purposes of confidentiality, we give you the choice whether you wish for your password to be saved. If you wish to speed up the process on future shops, tick the box asking to remember your password and you won't have to enter it next time. If you change your mind, you can untick the box later on in your account page. Your password is required so that we can carry out the functions described above. See the Password Policy for more details.

How do I make changes to my trolley after I've sent it to the supermarket?

Once you've sent your trolley, there are two ways that you can add or remove items from it:
  1. Return to mySupermarket, make the changes and then send your trolley again. It will replace the old one as long as you haven't yet paid for it.
  2. Make any changes on the supermarket website. Before you pay for your shopping you can simply change some of your items. You can even make changes after you've paid, as long as you do so enough time before your delivery.

Favourites

Can I use my Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's or Ocado Favourites with mySupermarket?

Of course! To save time, you can import your favourites list from the Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's or Ocado websites. In addition we update your favourites with the products you buy through mySupermarket.

How do I add products to my favourites?

There are two ways to add products to your favourites with mySupermarket:
  1. Using Favourites stored on another website – Go to Your Favourites and click on 'Import your favourites'. You will be asked to enter your username and password for your Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's or Ocado account, and then we will import all your favourites in one convenient list.
  2. By shopping with mySupermarket – Every time you send a trolley from mySupermarket, all your products will be saved in your Favourites.
You can store up to 300 favourites.

How do I remove unwanted favourites?

Very simply. Go to Your Favourites and click on the link "Edit your Favourites". You can remove as many products as you like.

Prices and Special Offers

Are product prices and special offers up-to-date?

We update prices and special offers continuously and at least once a day. As soon as you book a delivery slot, we remove any special offers that have past their expiry date. If you book a delivery slot after filling your trolley, we will adjust your trolley total to reflect this change. We recommend that you book your delivery before you start shopping. That way, we'll only show you special offers that will be in date on the day of your delivery.

Where can I find Special Offers?

Any product with a special offer is marked with the details in red. The expiry date can be seen in the Product Details page by clicking on the product image.
You can find Special Offers in three places:
  1. Top Offers – Visit our Top Offers for the best offers at your supermarket, organized by shopping department. It also has a bonus ipoints shelf that covers all our exclusive ipoints deals available.
  2. All Offers – The last shelf in every department contains all the offers found in that department.
  3. Offers for You – Within the Favourites department, the 'Offers for You' shelf contains carefully selected items from the thousands of special offers, based on your favourites list.

Why is your total price sometimes different from the total on the supermarket websites?

There are 3 reasons why there may be differences between the total of your trolley in mySupermarket and the online supermarket:
  1. Your mySupermarket total price takes into account special offers. However some of the online supermarkets do not include these discounts in their totals (If you book your delivery slot through mySupermarket, your total will only take into account offers which are valid on the date of your delivery).
  2. For items sold by weight, such as fruit or fresh meat, we calculate the price based on an estimated, average weight for those items. But you pay the online supermarket for the exact weight.
  3. If you switched supermarkets, and some of the items you chose could not be replaced, the cost of these items will be deducted from the trolley price.

Delivery

Who delivers my shopping?

The supermarket you checkout from will deliver your shopping. You can book delivery through mySupermarket from Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's or Ocado, but your shopping will be delivered by the supermarket itself.

How do I book a delivery slot?

You can book a delivery slot with mySupermarket by clicking on the       icon either before you start shopping or at any time before you send your trolley to the online supermarket of your choice. As soon as you book your delivery slot, we will recalculate your total by eliminating any special offers that have passed their expiry date.

How much does delivery cost?

It depends on the supermarket, day, time and the total cost of your trolley. In order to check updated prices, please visit our Book Delivery page.

How can I change my delivery address?

If you change your address, please amend both your postcode within your mySupermarket account, as well as your full address within your supermarket account before you send your trolley.

If you wish to send an order to a different address (e.g. for a relative or to a holiday address), please add the address as an additional address within your supermarket account. With Tesco, you need to change your default address.

What should I do if I have a problem with my delivery?

If you think mySupermarket misrepresented the products you ordered, please email support@mysupermarket.co.uk with the details.
Otherwise, please call the online supermarkets directly on:

Tesco – 0845 722 5533; ASDA – 0845 300 7771; Sainsbury's – 0845 301 2020;
Ocado – 0845 399 1122.

Payment

Is mySupermarket free to use?

Yes, mySupermarket is completely free. All you have to do is pick a supermarket to start filling your trolley. To send your trolley to your chosen supermarket, you have to register, but this is free as well.

How do I pay for my shopping?

You pay for your shopping on the website of your chosen supermarket. Once you've filled your trolley and taken advantage of our saving suggestions, you send your trolley to the supermarket of your choice. We then transfer you to their website where you enter your payment details. Your order is only confirmed once you have paid for your shopping.

Saving with mySupermarket

How can I save money?

You can save money in four ways:
  • Swap & Save – You can save money within your supermarket by swapping some of your products. Whenever you add an item to your trolley, the system checks if there are alternative, same quality products but at a lower price.
Whenever we find a cheaper swap, you will see the    image. You can review the swaps whenever you want by clicking on the Swap & Save button in the header.

The items which you originally chose are listed on the left, with the cheaper alternatives to the right. Click the 'Swap' button to make the swap. If you change your mind, click on 'Cancel Swap' to undo and return to your original item.
  • Downshift Challenge – mySupermarket, together with Martin Lewis from MoneySavingExpert.com have challenged the British public to take the Downshift Challenge. As you fill your trolley we check how much you can save by dropping a brand level for some of your products. Whether it's from branded to own brand, or own brand to value own brand, you can cut your bill considerably by downshifting a few times. You can view the Downshift Challenge by clicking on the Swap & Save button in the header.
  • Switch Supermarket – We keep track of the price of your trolley in all four supermarkets while you shop. If another supermarket offers a better price for your trolley, you can immediately transfer the entire contents of your trolley to that supermarket. You can do this at any stage by clicking on the supermarket tabs in the header.
  • Split List - Split your shopping list between two supermarkets to get the best deals in both. To do so, start shopping from one supermarket and then click on "Print List". You can then choose whether to print your list for your chosen supermarket or to split the list between two supermarkets.

How do I switch supermarkets?

At the top of each page you can view the price of your trolley in all four supermarkets. If, at any stage in your shopping, you would like to switch supermarkets, all you need to do is click on the supermarket tab of your choice. You will then have the opportunity to review your new trolley and check that you are satisfied with the replacements, where identical products weren't available. If we can't find a good replacement, the product will be marked as "Unavailable". You can then proceed shopping in your new supermarket. You can switch between supermarkets as often as you like within one shop.

How do I select healthier choices?

As you fill your trolley, we look out for healthier alternatives to the products you select. To view these swaps, click on the "Swap & Save Calories" button in the header. As well as reducing your calories, we will also suggest similar products that contain less fat, saturated fat, salt and sugar. The items which you originally chose are listed on the left, with the healthier alternatives to the right. Click the 'Swap' button to make the swap. A message will appear, listing all the savings you made on that swap. If you change your mind, click on 'Cancel Swap' to undo and return to your original item.

ipoints, Loyalty points & e-vouchers

Will I still earn Clubcard and Nectar points?

Yes. When you use mySupermarket, you are still in fact shopping from your usual online supermarket. You're just using a different website to fill your trolley more smartly. You therefore continue to earn loyalty points in the same way as if you shopped directly from the supermarket.

Can I still use supermarket e-vouchers?

Yes. Enter them after we transfer you to the supermarket website for payment.

What are ipoints and how do I collect them?

ipoints are valuable internet rewards that can be collected when shopping online on mySupermarket and other online retailers. Regular ipoints - You earn 1 ipoint for every £1 you spend at mySupermarket. Bonus ipoints - In addition, you can earn bonus ipoints when buying specific products. You'll find all of these exclusive offers on the Bonus ipoints Shelf in the Top Offers Dept.

Once you've received your ipoints (they are processed at least one week after the order is completed), you can redeem them at www.ipoints.co.uk for a wide variety of gifts and services.
